Okay, well perhaps 'hysteria' is too strong of a word for it, but I've found that after each comicon I go to, I always feel really inspired to start working on (or finish up) a costume.

There are always a few 'dream costumes' floating around in my head, i.e. costumes that I would love to have but don't have the skills (yet) to create to my level of satisfaction. A few of the costumes I love and would love to create are Padme's (technically one of her handmaidens, actually) black invasion gown, [link] , a custom Mandalorian, and X-wing pilot, a set of Samus armor, and a clone trooper.

So this year, I've decided to actually attempt one of these costumes, and I have chosen a Mandalorian. I have done very little work with hard parts, so that's always what has intimidated me about this project. And because I want things to look 'just so', I don't think I would ever be happy with any of the parts I created myself, so I'm purchasing the basic hard parts and I'm planning on sewing the soft parts.

I just bought my helmet today from M-DSB [link] whom I've heard great things about. I initially thought of buying a Rubies 2-piece Jango helmet, but I'm just too afraid I would break it, so I decided to go with a nicer quality helmet that won't require as much modification. Over a year ago, I figured out my armor's color and design, but I've since then managed to lose the paper with my drawing on it, so I'll have to start over. I'm also speaking with a guy in the Mando Mercs who makes metal armor for a really decent price and I'm probably going to be getting a set or armor (or beskar'gam as the Mercs say) from him.

All in all, I'm very excited.

I see the journal is pretty old, but still: I can relate very much to the first part. I have many costumes in my head I want to make, but I never have the time or money. (A street version of Nightwing, out of motorcycle pants and jacket is one of those).

Ah well, we're young, we've got the time :D

For me it's also the motivation. I'm great at starting, but when I hit a snag, I usually take a long break.

I recommend you contact Dustin Dial for advice. He can point you in the right direction for armor.
