Karmic Koala Wallpaper by icantthinkofaname-09 Karmic Koala Wallpaper by icantthinkofaname-09
One of my submissions for the Karmic Koala release. Each stuffed animal represents a previous release (from left to right: Warty Warthog, Hoary Hedgehog, Breezy Badger, Dapper Drake, Edgy Eft, Feisty Fawn, Gutsy Gibbon, Hardy Heron, Intrepid Ibex, Jaunty Jackalope, Karmic Koala). They are arranged in order of release date.

All the animals were first sketched on paper, scanned onto the computer and finally finished in the GIMP. They were all actually full-color animals, but once I compiled them into a background, I changed each layer so that they would all be sepia.

Here you can see the animals individually and in color:

Gutsy Gibbon: [link]
Hardy Heron: [link]

EDIT: You can now see the wallpaper with the three newer releases!

I'm actually considering modelling sculptures of each of the mascots- awesome rendition, here! :D I want that on my shelf. XD

Thank you!

What would you model them out of? I can picture that being pretty awesome!

I'm actually seeing if I can't put them on IMVU as pets. I'm planning on using themes from the colors/art for each release (which for the most part is brown/orange, but Lucid has some new stuff). So, basically, looking at the default themes and wallpapers for the release, and related artwork, and making it based on a blend of those features/feels. Nostalgia and fashion all in one. XD

And then I can print them off as actual sculptures after I 3d model them. I'm actually fairly good at 3d, but most of my work is copyrighted after I sell it, so not much ends up on this account.

Hi ~icantthinkofaname-09,

The stuffed toys concept is really original and very charming. The overall design and execution was excellent! I am rating this 5 out-of 5.

You know, I had actually planned on adding in a Lucid Lynx plush, but I've just been really busy with other art, so I think I may have to wait for the next release.

Thank you!

Thanks so much!

I use an image manipulation program called the GIMP, which is like a free version of Photoshop. I simply chose a base color for the wood (light brownish), and I used the burn and dodge tools to create the lines of the wood. You'll also notice that many trees have little knots and holes in them and so I also added those with the burn tool. And the lines on trees go around those holes, so it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it.

Would you like me to credit you under that name instead? I did have a look round for it.

:iconicantthinkofaname-09:
No, what you have is fine. I was sure that I had my full name somewhere on DA, but I looked too, and I guess I don't.

P.S. PNG is always much better than JPEG as jpeg is lossy compression and png is not. Your always going to get artefacts with jpeg images.
